We're In Business

Yes, I can officially say we're in business.  Chez Soleil is up and running.  We had the grand opening yesterday for locals, neighbors, etc. on the island to come and tour through.

It was a lot of work.  The decorating, the furnishing, the purchasing, the DSL wireless connection (YES...it is FINALLY up and I'll blog on that another time) assembling five new bikes.  But in between all the work, it was also a lot of fun choosing color themes, picking out items and just seeing it all come together.  It's very nice and the people who came to see it yesterday also agreed.  Everyone loved the back deck, with the trees hanging over it.  They also said it gave the feeling of actually being in a tree house.  That's what I'll call it......the tree house deck.

I also got some good ideas and suggestions from people.  Like having a fish cleaning table outside under the house.  Makes sense.  This is an island.  Many people who visit here come to fish.  Rather than taking their catch into the house, they can clean it right outside.  So that's added to the list.

Before everyone arrived, I poured myself a glass of red wine to toast our new venture.  I also took a deep breath that the physical work is behind me.

Our web site is completed, brochures printed and distributed around town, we're listed on 5 different websites for vacation rentals, AND........we also have our first booking for today!  Yup.....a family of four will be checking in this afternoon for 3 nights.

If you'd like to see the updated photos on our website, please click here and visit Chez Soleil.  On the sidebar, you'll see Interior Photos.

So looking back to four months ago when we discovered this house for sale....it's been quite a ride.  Actually, the only glitches as of right now are we're waiting on the other 2 bar stools to be delivered and the bedskirt for the second bedroom.  I'd say that's not bad at all!

See you next time........

Oh it looks beautiful!!! Wishing you all good things for your new venture. Perhaps one day I will have to take a journey over there and stay in your new place. :-)

I'm so happy for you, Ray and the critters! The place looks fantastic. And yes that is a super idea about the cleaning table outside! Are you on any sites specialize in advertising "pet friendly"?

Wow ! (I believe that is the right reaction). What a pity that it's just a bit too far to come for a weekend.

Wow, it looks delightful. I love renting houses wherever we go on trips-- when we stay long enough-- and have done it a lot of times. Yours looks set up just as I would consider great

I'd say that is FANTASTIC, Terri! I mean....You and Ray went from no 'vacation rental property' to one that starts today,...And I KNOW it had to be a lot of work---including your DSL/Phone problems----I cannot get over how quickly you did all this....You are Amazing!

The "bikes"....so you supply bikes for the rental people? Or have I misunderstood this? I think that is fabulous, too!

If I could travel, etc....I would come there in a heartbeat...! Going to go look at the pictures now....

Congratulations, my dear!
BRAVO!!!! It all looks just lovely Terri.
