My Week in Review

I've had one of those weeks, where you just have to shake your head and be happy for all that DOES go right in your life. The photo above proves there's lots of good in my life. Duncan and Brie are becoming the best of buds and it's so cute to watch. Every afternoon they curl up in that blue chair, together, side by side, and take their nap. As you can see, she just woke up and is yawning.
Ah, but on to my week....okay, let's see......a week ago yesterday our Cable went out. It began on Tuesday with the loss of NBC....nothing, just that fuzzy "snow" on the screen. By Thursday, we'd lost all the other Cable channels. Gone. Kaput. Just to give you a little background here.....when we moved here 2 years ago the ONLY way (you have to remember, we live on an island, in a small town) that one could get their local channels AND major networks (NBC, ABC & CBS) was via Brighthouse Cable. However, those channels didn't include Lifetime, A&E, Discovery and many of the others that we like. Okay.....so then you subscribe to Direct TV Satellite for those. That's what we did.
So I called Brighthouse last Thursday.....well, they can't come out till the following Thursday, because Thursday is the ONLY day they come to Cedar Key. (island...remote...remember?) So he came out yesterday and long story short.....he has NO clue what's wrong. ie: He canNOT fix it The cable is buried in the ground and "that requires another crew." Okay.....so when MIGHT we expect our cable back? Beats him. Maybe next week, maybe next month......you get the picture? Needless to say, I was NOT a happy camper.
But....I was sharing my tale of woe with the guests we had at our rental home the other day and they live in Georgia and told me they have Dish Network and ARE able to get local channels and major networks with that. Long story short......I called Dish in my area, and lo and behold, this is now available here. I've canceled Brighthouse (we don't have it anyway) and will cancel Direct TV next week and the Dish tech will be out between Mon. and Wed. next week to get us all installed. Terri's happy! AND even happier because......Having Dish on all 4 TV's (we're not extravagant, really.....we have one in the TV room for Ray and I, one in the family room my aunt used to watch, one on the lanai and I have a small 13 inch out here in my writers studio) so to have it on all 4 (which we don't have now) is going to be $10 cheaper per month! Bravo for Dish, I say.
But Cable problems wasn't the only problem I had last week......On Friday (I swear it was Friday, the 13th) our air conditioning decided to also go kafooy....Didn't work. The unit isn't that old. Called and OF course, this couldn't happen on a Tues. morning at 8:00. Nah....that would be too simple. It had to happen on a holiday weekend. Couldn't get our regular tech to come out till Sat. evening......but we were brave, and sweated through it. He temporarily replaced the "relay switch" (whatever that is...I'm not mechanically inclined. I admit it) and all was well. He did come back on Wed. and put in the permanent part. So all is cool at our house again.
Took Duncan to the vet on Tuesday because he has a red, growth on his back paw. Right near his pad. It doesn't seem to hurt him, he isn't limping. However, after losing Holly you can probably understand why I'm paranoid now when it comes to my pets. The vet thinks it's a benign tumor.....the kind that will grow to a certain size and then fall off on it's own. Hmm, I've never heard of this but he gave me info on it. So he'll recheck it in 3 weeks and we'll see where we're at. Of course, I'm hoping it'll go away and all will be well.
So I've had a topsy turvy week, but.....today's Friday and all is well once again. I keep thinking of that old saying, "This too shall pass".....it always does. I'm hoping your week has been a little better (and less costly) than mine.
And I'll see you here next time........

UPDATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Wahooo! The Dish Network tech ended up coming today. Already I'm impressed with their service!
The reception is a thousand times better than what we had with Brighthouse Cable. And I have my major networks and local channels. All's well in TV Land once again.

I have SKY the leading satellite system in the UK. It has over 400 channels and I still end up watching a DVD.
Michele sent me here to tell you to relax.
Incidentally, you must RENT "THE SOPRANOS" from wherever, starting with the fit n seasoecause n...Bit is very watered down on A&E...You are not seeing it as it was written, and I know as a writer, that is very important to you, to me
Something is weong with the Comment thingy...None of this makes sense....I will Email you....OY!too!
Your photo of the two dogs together has heightened my desire for a companion for Sammi. Not now because we have an Oct. and a Nov. trip planned, but after that I will start looking for a little Maltese.

Have a great weekend!
When we lived out on the lake out near Hawthorne, we only had 4 or 5 channels on tv (I think).I was so glad to move back into town and get real cable like everyone else!
Rick wants to ditch our cable hookup and get satellite also. How do you like the Dish Network now that you've had it a few days?
