Leavenworth ~ A Bavarian Village
After our drive on Sunday to Stevens Pass, we headed to Leavenworth. I was quite enchanted with this town and the history. It had been a dying logging community until the 1960s when the town came together to revitalize it. Surrounded by gorgeous mountains with skiing, they decided to do that by creating a Bavarian village. Everything in the town has a resemblance to the Alps and it's quite picturesque. These were taken from the dining room of the restaurant where we had lunch, looking down onto the street.

We very much enjoyed lunch and socializing, accompanied by a great Washington State wine. I know that France, Italy and the Napa Valley are well known for their outstanding wines.......but I also now know that Washington State wines are a great competitor. I lean more toward red and very much enjoyed the Cabernets and San Giovese wines that came from the local vineyards.

And here we are enjoying good friends, good wine, good food and good times...............

Following lunch, I had a scheduled book signing at A Book For All Seasons in Leavenworth.........A huge thank you to all who stopped by and to Pat, the owner of the shop for hosting my event. (In middle of second photo)

So I think you can see that what I had was really a working holiday. Lots of events and working, but also a bit of time to have some fun and get to know the area.
Monday was another busy day . . . It began with a delightful brunch at Candace's house, followed by a trip to the alpaca farm with Mary and that evening, a book signing and gathering at The Grape, Quincy's wonderful wine shop. So join me here tomorrow and I'll share all of that with you................
