Edie's Birthday.......

Edie had a birthday last Friday and gathered some friends together on Sunday to celebrate.  (For those of you who might not know, Edie is a very good friend of mine and her and husband, Joe, are the owners of Kona Joe's Island Cafe downtown)

My contribution for the buffet dinner was an old recipe of my aunts..........Ricotta Spinach Pie.

And here's the birthday gal serving up some sangria punch..........(VERY yummy!)

Those of you that know me know that I love, love, love butterflies........Edie's love happens to be mermaids and look what Joe gave her for her birthday.  A gorgeous custom designed ring with a mermaid.............

When it was time to eat, this table was overflowing with all kinds of great food............

But the dessert (made by Gail) got all the ooooohs and aaaaaahs..........(and yes, it was DElicious!)

Their adorable Yorkie, Kona, stole the show though with his sweet personality and friendliness.......

The guys discussing everything from local politics to the oil spill situation..............

(Left to right:  Bob, Scott (Cedar Key City Commissioner) Ray and Joe

And the ladies.........we laughed, we gossiped, we had a great time............

Left to right:  Me, Gail, Edie, Andrea and Geri

And here's me with the birthday gal............

It was a really fun get-together.  How can you go wrong with good people, good food and an abundance of laughter.

I'm playing hooky from writing again today.  Heading to the yarn shop in Gainesville.  I've made a few boo boos on my knitting and need the assistance of Barbara, owner of the Yarn Works, to set me straight.

Also going to stop at Lowe's and get some herb plants.  See all that greenery on the picnic table behind the ladies in the photo above?  Yup, that's Edie's herb garden.........she went outside to snip some fresh dill and basal for some of the dishes she'd prepared and I said, "Ohhh, I want one TOO!" So Ray is going to build me a planter box so that I too can feel European by snipping fresh herbs for our recipes.

See you here next time..................

Happy Birthday Edie! Looks like you all had a wonderful time. That cake looks yummy what kind is it? And the Ricotta Spinach pie looks great also. Oh yes, fresh herbs is the way to go! Rosemary is the easiest it just takes off.

Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. I am not certain which was my favorite the dessert or the Yorkie. I am such a Yorkie fan.
