A Budding Cedar Key Author ~
When I moved here five years ago, the little girl next door was only five years old. I liked her immediately......polite, humorous, friendly and delightful. I've watched her grow these past years into an even more delightful ten-year old.
So I was quite honored a few months ago when she told me she was writing a book for the Young Authors event at school and wanted me to be the subject of her story. Just another example of how this Yankee, city girl feels accepted on this small town island.
Savannah came over to interview me, paper and pen in hand. She looked quite the professional and I have to say, I was impressed with the mature and intelligent questions she asked. She called me a few times after that to double check her material. A good trait for a writer to have, getting their information correct.
Then a few weeks ago she asked if I'd meet her at the cemetery for a photo shoot. She chose that location because of the beautiful scenery.
And shortly after that, voila! Her book was complete and "published." And this past Tuesday she presented it at the school event and read it to classmates, teachers and parents.
But yesterday, I got a special, private reading when she came to my writers studio. And of course I allowed Savannah to sit in my special chair at the computer where I write, while I sat and listened to her read it to me.

And here's the cover of her book, What Inspires Authors to Write Stories?.............notice the three, yes, THREE, awards that Savannah received for her book.

And here's one of the pages from the inside of the book..............

I couldn't be more proud if Savannah was my own granddaughter. She did a wonderful job with her project and I have no doubt this young lady will be going places in life. No, maybe she won't grow up to be a full time author, but she already has all the qualities needed to succeed in whatever she chooses. So a huge thank you to Savannah for making me a part of it.
Speaking of writing..........I've had a busy week working on book #3. And I'm very pleased.......I will be beginning chapter 7 tomorrow. (today is a break day) My characters are developing very well, my plot is moving along and I'm having fun with all of it. I think you'll like Grace, Aunt Maude and all the other characters, especially the extremely handsome and suave Frenchman, Lucas.
But later today I'm off to relax and socialize.........a writer can't stay isolated all the time. We're invited to an adult birthday party, so join me next time and I'll tell you about it.
See you then...................
