Hounding the Pavement

I actually read this book a few weeks ago and am just now getting around to talking about it.
This was my first time reading anything written by Judi McCoy and Hounding the Pavement is the first book in a new series that she has started.
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful mystery! To quote the cover blurb: Ellie Engleman, the newest dog walker on Manhattan's swanky Upper East Side, has a talent---besides scooping poop. She can hear what her canine clientele are thinking. So when an owner is killed, Ellie must perk up her ears and bone up on her sleuthing.
I loved the character of Ellie and there's a great chemistry between her and Detective Ryder. But Rudy, the Yorkshire terrier/poodle mix that she rescued from the pound stole my heart.
If you love dogs, as I do, you'll love this very entertaining story. McCoy has captured the unique and loving relationship that we all share with our canine companions. But not only that, without being preachy, I love how she wove common sense into her story about being a responsible dog owner.
I was very impressed with the fact that the author is donating all royalties that she earns on the sale of this book to Best Friends Animal Society. They're the country's largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals and located in Utah.
I loved and enjoyed her story so much I had to send her an email, which led to us exchanging a few back and forth. Judi is also going to be at the Romance Writers of America conference in DC in July. I will be taking my book for her to autograph and I will get to meet her in person.
If you like mysteries, dogs and an entertaining read.......this one's for you! Definitely check it out!
See you here next time...............
