Breathing In the Island

Since Ray stopped the antibiotics last Thursday, he's really beginning to improve. He was having very unpleasant side effects from such strong doses. He'd been on the IV antibiotics since the Wed. he was admitted to the hospital and he had those till he was discharged ten days later. Then he was started on 2000 mg. per day of the oral ones. Last week wasn't great at all. He was having insomnia, lack of appetite, weakness and looked and felt horrible. When he told me he was having tingling in his fingers, I said that's IT. That's one of the bad side effects and enough's enough. He only had 3 days left and Nurse Terri tossed them in the trash. Almost right away, he began to improve.........able to sleep, appetite returned, he looked and felt better. Sometimes the cure is worse than the illness and the patient just has to do what's best for him.
So things are slowly returning to normal around here. And normal was me walking with the dogs downtown in the morning. We'd really missed that a lot! We walk the entire downtown area, by the water, for about 50 minutes. And I'll tell ya......there's some really good energy on this island and I was breathing it in big time. The sky was a perfect blue the past few days, with puffs of white. The sun shimmered on the water. The sound of gulls overhead gave me a comforting feeling. And the scent of Lantana and other flowers filled the air.
Ray and I also took the golf cart to cruise around downtown for awhile in the afternoons and we went to check on Madame Colette. (boat on the right in above photo) She sits alone and by herself at the City Marina, waiting for her people to board her and take her out into the Gulf. But I'm afraid it'll be a bit longer before we get her out there.
We see the surgeon tomorrow and I think things are beginning to move forward now with Ray's recovery.
I finally got around to doing my March Newsletter and if you signed up for it (on the sidebar here or at my author website) then you saw the photo for my book jacket and read my updated book news. Thanks to my great web mistress extraordinaire, Heather, I also now have an archive page on my author website, www.terridulong.com, in case you're new signing up for the Newsletter, you can now go back and read the previous ones.
So little by little, I'm catching up. I read another great book during the past few weeks, so join me here next time and I'll tell you all about it..................
