A Visitor ~

Look who came to visit..........isn't she cute? I have no clue who this pretty calico belongs to, but I've seen her in the neighborhood. Sometimes jumping my fence, sometimes out front in my driveway......but this time, she decided to jump on top of our screened lanai area!
We figured out she must have scooted up the tree beside the screened area and settled herself quite nicely up there.
I was in here working and Ray came in and said, "you have to come see this." As you can tell, she's not in the least frightened and even allowed me to snap her photo. And you have to realize that down below......we have Duncan and Brie barking up at her and 3 cats staring at her wondering what on earth she's doing up there. She sure is laid back and after about 15 minutes, she scooted back down the tree, hopped the fence and was gone.
So do you live in area where you're getting blasted with the frigid cold? I have to say, it's been a mighty nasty winter across the country. Even here in Cedar Key, the past few mornings have only been in the 20's and not much above 50 during the day. No snow though, so I'm not complaining.
I started reading The Heretic's Daughter the other day and about 80 pages into it, I'm a bit disappointed. I'm originally from Salem, the story deals with the witch trials of the 1600's and it's fiction, so I thought I'd like it. But so far it seems to be dragging. I'm hoping it'll pick up. Anybody here read it?
And if anybody has some good book suggestions for me, please leave a comment. I've decided to start utilizing my library card more (rather than Amazon purchases) and we have a great library here on Cedar Key.....plus, you're always bound to bump into somebody there and can do a bit of socializing.
Have a good weekend, if you're in a part of the country that's freezing, stay warm and I'll see you here next time................

We're at 19 right now..........I did a post on Dec. 11th about the snow we had that day. Deep South....LOL. I feel like I'm back in Nashville!
Send me an e-mail and tell me what you like to read. I read all kind of books..I bet I can turn you on to some Awesome Reads!
I love the way this cat is sitting and I imagine the scene with all your animals watching him... I miss all of you... Bisous, Véro
I just finished Charles de Lint's Forests of the Heart about magic, folklore and the supernatural where ordinary people are sucked into a world they didn't know was there. I liked how he blended the fantasy with what we see as reality and most of the fantasy was things I have read and thought maybe. I am now going to read more of his books. This one was loaned to me by my daughter and I am thinking the same thing as you-- gotta use the library more. It's not easy from this far out but I can't keep buying books. They are going to kick me out of the house with their space demands
I am almost ashamed to say, we have had very very warm weather here, for 5 days.....Very low Humidity, and between the low 80's and upper 70's....It's the weather YOU should be having...Well, except for the Hunidity part, I guess.....
A fun book which one can read in under an hour, is Carrie Fisher's book..The Name Of Which I cannot think of at this moment--But it has DRINKING in the title....It is a great example of a very funny take on a certain part of her life....it is a memoir, but not the WHOLE story...It is based on her one woman show of the same name...I MUST LOOK THIS UP!
Anyway....it is fun and also quite wonderful.
Though mostly a non-fiction reader, I was intrigued by an NPR interview with the novelist, David Lodge, about his latest, "Deaf Sentence." Enjoying his takeon many issues close to me--increasing deafness, aging, the search for a comfortable role in retirement. All expressed with humorour bewilderment--if that makes sense.
