Go AWAY Hanna, Ike & Josephine!

Not that we're not social down here in Florida, but we can do without the company of Ike or Josephine, thank you very much.

I think Hanna is pretty much on course to go up the Atlantic and unfortunately might be paying a visit to those of you in the Carolina's.  So I'm hoping she'll tame down before she arrives.

But we're not sure yet what Ike or Josephine will end up doing.  This 5 day projection for Ike looks like it might be headed toward Florida.  But of course, these are always pretty iffy until it gets closer.

We're all set here.  We have a generator that will power both our house and my writers studio.  We also have plenty of battery operated lanterns, flashlights, etc.  Since we stock up on everything when we shop (because we only leave the island to do major shopping once every 3 weeks or so) we'll have plenty of food in the freezer, fridge and cabinets.  Also....our home is at 22 feet elevation.  A real plus living on an island!  It would have to be a mighty powerful storm for us to get flooded here at our house.

So all we can do is hope all three will end up dissipating and just go away.  If all else fails and it's a Cat 4 heading this way, we made plans when we moved here that we'd evacuate to a pet friendly hotel away from the hurricane.  The kitties in their cat carriers and Duncan and Brie.  The fish........I think they could survive without food for a few days.

But I think we'll be just fine and I'm wishing that for the rest of Florida and up the eastern seaboard.

See you here next time.............

that is scary. Good luck and hope it doesn't come near you and lessens before it hits land.

Yupper, we here in Dixie County are keeping an eye on the sky too. Although we are further inland than you, we tend to lose power for days in a storm like these brutes. Got our fingers crossed that they pass us by, or at least drop down to manageable wind levels, as we could still use some rain here.

First, Crossed fingers and toes about storms approaching you..what we see on the internet seems more encouraging for you--at the moment.
.
Second, Your Obama activity report on my blog made my day! Though I know Florida is more "in play" than New York, it would be gratifying to see more energized campaign activity especially here in Harlem.

Third, Admire your openness to negative comments. They frighten me.

Yes, Stay away! We are just getting a lot of rain and mild wind with Hanna today (Daytona Beach). Still too far away for Ike, but still looks scary. Hope I don't have to make an emergency trip West after all this to check things out! Rather it be a pleasure trip to relax, but thats what comes with living in the 'sunshine state' LOL Take care and be safe!
