My Bags Are Packed . . .

. . . . . WELL, NOT QUITE. But I've sorted through clothes and have it figured out exactly what we'll be taking. The weather has turned autumn-like in the south of France, so that's made it easier for packing.
Do you like my new luggage? Actually, we purchased this last March in preparation for our trip to Paris and Brittany, which we had to cancel.
It was custom made at the Cedar Key Canvas Shop downtown. I can attest to the wonderful work Lia, Julie and Sharon do there. I own a few handbags and a backpack made by them. When the luggage we'd used for a few years got ripped from our trip last October, I decided to invest in something that would hold up to the rough airline treatment. Canvas is quite durable. I chose the chocolate brown and tan for colors and we had them monogrammed with our initial. (Mine is fancy script)
Surprisingly, these bags hold a lot of clothes. Especially when you roll your clothes to conserve space. However, I got a bit nervous that perhaps mine wouldn't be quite large enough, so Julie assured me that they could add extra inches for mine, which they did. I've already used it a few times since we bought them and she was right. I have plenty of room, with room to spare. So we'll just be checking these two bags and a black tote for toiletries. OH, and of course my laptop (for blogging), which is a carry-on, along with my backpack.
And look what I got to pull the luggage...................

I ordered two of these from a company in south Florida, and I'm more than pleased. It holds the luggage securely, without tipping over and the wheels skim smoothly along. Plus, it's very lightweight to carry onto the plane with us. Since we'll be taking the train down to the south of France from Paris, I wanted something simple for getting on and off the train. I didn't want to be loaded down with various pieces of bulky luggage. I think this will all work perfectly.
One week from tonight we leave for Paris.........and I'm more than ready!
See you here next time..........

It's wonderful to share the details of your anticipation, even down to the luggage-roller. Good job.
I couldn't believe when my husband and I got back from being in another world - free of news and politics, etc. as we sailed Penobscot Bay - that everything had changed. We'd left when the conventional wisdom was "Democrats are a shoo-in after eight years of Bush!" And came back to polls showing the candidates neck and neck.
Astounding! Even after the Wall St. meltdown. (Uh oh, I've gotten started here).
Terri - wonderful luggage. I was in the shop when on the island - maybe next time I'll buy something for myself.
I've a friend who recently left Maine for a years stint in France for her job. Wish I could remember exactly where - two locations, one of which is Nice. We (friends) are hoping to go over for a visit before the year is up.
ENJOY!!!!
I wish I could go like that - but of course packing for a month is so much harder and I have to take a bigger suitcase - I have however decided to leave the kitchen sink at home!!!
High winds and rain here today - a bit scary. Bob got to Manchester and I'm busy doing a lot of last minute stuff. Am into the second book now and enjoying it.
Take care as you ready for the trip - and of course, see you in Caunes NEXT WEEK!!!!!
Hugs - Mary.
I hope you have a wonderful journey to France and please give Mary a big hug from me, one of her avid or should I say rabid fans.
Janet
Terri, you are going to just love Mary. She is sweet and kind hearted and a very caring lady. Take lots of photos of you two together. I can't wait to hear the stories from both of you.
Bon Voyage!
