Happy Birthday, Baby Boy

Yes.......my youngest, my baby boy (as he'll always be to me) turns 38 today. Hard to believe, since it seems like yesterday I was at Salem Hospital on that autumn morning hearing my obstetrician telling me, "I'm afraid this one is going to be breech." Yes, my youngest decided to enter the world feet first.
And that's been pretty much how he's approached life. Always upbeat and enthusiastic, jumping feet first into whatever he puts his mind to or whatever catches his fancy.
We share a lot of things in common. Our love for music, reading, learning new things. So I always enjoy Brian's company, because along with his sense of humor and ability to laugh, we never fail to have lengthy and in-depth conversations.
He was in Paris last week and sent me an email to let me know he'd arrived safely. And then he told me something, that as a mom, made me feel good. He thanked me for instilling my travel bug in him. He told me how much he enjoyed exploring new areas and cultures. And I was glad that this part of me had found it's way to Brian. I've always felt that education is everything and top-most, but that's closely followed by travel. Because through travel we come to understand people and cultures different than ours, which ultimately makes us see......we're all very much the same.
Brian has been a good son and an excellent father to his own children. But even more important and for which I'm most proud......he's a good human being. Those traits that one must learn on their own.......compassion for mankind, animals and the earth....Brian has a huge amount of this. Kindness and understanding of those less fortunate. An ability to consider an opposite point of view and disagree accordingly. The confidence to stand up for what he believes in. All of these traits have found their way to Brian over thirty-eight years.
Happy Birthday, Baby Boy! Enjoy your moments and may the year ahead be all that you want it to be. I love you, Brian.
And I'll see you, my readers, here next time...................

What a wonderful tribute to your son. I think you did a fantastic job raising him!
Your sentiments about Brian parallel a lot of mine about my son, Michael.
I'm thinking sons are special...
