Our Female ID?

Well, I have to say that when I first heard McCain chose Sarah Palin for his VP running mate, I said, "WHO?" I honestly had never heard of her. And from what I'm hearing and reading, McCain wasn't very acquainted with her either. So why? Why did he choose this particular politician above others? Could be lots of reasons I suppose, but in my opinion, the one that is blatantly implied is..........ALL of the Hillary supporters will now switch their vote to the McCain/Palin ticket. And that makes me, as a woman, damn angry.
What? Us women have no original thoughts in our head? We can't be depended on to choose and vote wisely, rather than only based on gender? Yup, I'm mighty angry. Because I know for a fact that ALL of the women that I spoke to these past months that were Hillary supporters were NOT voting for Hillary based on gender. These women had more than enough intelligence and common sense to choose their candidate based on more important issues.
Hey, I won't lie.........of course it would be a wonderful milestone to have a woman running on the Presidential ticket. And I would applaud that.........IF she deserved it. NOT because she was a woman! And from all the research I've done since Friday, sorry folks, I have to say that Sarah Palin is NOT qualified to step in as President of this country, should something happen to McCain. NOT in the least. And I find that mighty scary!
That old nursery rhyme about little girls came back to me these past few days. Yes, females can be sugar and spice and everything nice. HOWEVER, I certainly do NOT want that to be MY ID. That is NOT all that I'm about as a woman in this country. And that is NOT what all the other females are about. We are SO much more! We have the intelligence to hold top positions, the passion to make changes, the determination to stand by our convictions, the strength to keep going under adverse conditions, and the brain-power to figure it all out OURSELF!
Had McCain chosen a female that was QUALIFIED to lead this country, I would have said, "bravo." But to choose a former beauty queen with no foreign policy experience, to choose such an unqualified candidate, to put this country at such a risk..........I am appalled (although I shouldn't be) at the lack of concern the Republican Party has demonstrated toward American's.
And I have to wonder......what IS it about this man that he gravitates toward female beauty? His first wife was a super model, then after running around on her for years he takes up with wifey #2, a rodeo beauty queen. And OH wait.........WHO does he choose as a running mate? The best qualified person? Heck, no! A runner-up in the Miss Alaska beauty pagent. Is it just me? Or is this man beyond shallow?
Unfortunately, we do all know that beauty opens many doors. It's been that way for years. But yoohoo! Isn't it time to change this archaic way of thinking and acting? What kind of message does his choice send to our young daughters or granddaughters? That as long as you're pretty, depsite the fact you lack the experience and qualifications, YOU TOO could be on a Presidential ticket. I have a major problem with that. Especially because "I" was one of those Mom's that taught MY daughter............be ALL that you can be! Work hard, do WELL, dream big and it WILL happen! She in turn, has taught my granddaughter those same values. WORK to make yourself SO qualified that whatever you desire, NOBODY can turn you down, because you will be DESIRABLE for the right reasons.
Okay..........my blog readers, male and female............I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on all of this. And for the females, is this the kind of ID we want to pass on to future generations?
See you here next time.........................

Senator Biden is the VP candidate who should appeal to women. He authored domestic violence legislation, supported pay equity for women, and has promoted the rights of women around the world.
Palin for VP should energize us all to work even harder for the Obama-Biden ticket.
I was a Hillary supporter. I voted for her in the primary, not because she was female, but because I felt she would get things done. I feel she really listened to the people and would do whats right for our country.
Everyone has skeletons in their closets, nobody is a perfect person. We all make mistakes.I sure am not the same person I was 10 or 20 yrs ago.
But now I am an official Democrat! After watching Obama, I know he will do right for us.My female instincts are ALWAYS right :)
But I don't think it was an attempt to woo Hillary voters so much as it was an attempt to mollify the right wing of the Republican party, whose support for McCain has been tepid at best. In that, the move might have succeeded. We'll just have to see how it plays out.
I do think that if Obama's supporters pile on Sarah as they did with Hillary, it may win Palin some sympathy votes among women. Should make for an interesting political year without a doubt.
