Merry Christmas Eve ~~~
Wishing you a Merry Christmas Eve from St. Simons Island. .......
We sure got a blast of cold air here on Monday when the temp was only 32 degrees in the morning. It didn't go above 48 all day, so we had a nice, quiet day at the house keeping warm. I did some reading, some knitting and relaxing. But yesterday was sunny and gorgeous and up to 62 degrees.
We went to lunch at the 4th of May at the Pier Village and because they have a dog friendly patio, Duncan and Brie got to come too.

They're having fun being out and about in a new area. By the way, the food at the 4th of May is excellent. I had the best meatloaf and I can see why they specialize in their veggies. Ray bought their cookbook with all their great recipies in it. Then we walked along the Village area, browsing in shops that led down to the pier. There was a cargo ship cruising past.........

And this is one of the beaches near the Pier at Neptune Park. As you can see, there isn't much beach area left............

Located near the village and pier is the St. Simons Lighthouse, which is one of only five surviving light towers in Georgia. It is operational and casts its light as far as twenty-three miles out to sea. Visitors can climb the 129 steps to the top and yup, you guessed it.......I passed on that and only observed it from the ground.

And it looked so pretty all decked out with Christmas finery..............

This was taken near the lighthouse keeper's dwelling, which is now a museum..........

And no matter where I am, if there's a yarn shop to be found, I can track it down. Which I did. I found this wonderful shop, The Stitchery of St. Simons on Frederica Road. What a great selection of yarns and I bought a couple skeins of Soya, cotton and silk yarn, in a pretty shade of green to make myself a scarf.

So it was a good day out and about. Duncan and Brie are having a great time, but I think they might need a vacation when we get home. They're not used to so much activity and socializing.
Today we plan to visit Brunswick and Jekyll Island, which is just a short drive from St. Simons. So I'll see you here tomorrow with more photos and commentary...............
