Swirl, Tap & Buff

100_0629.jpg

Those were the instructions with the new make-up I recently purchased.  Simply swirl, tap and buff.....and they were right.

As we get older, our skin tones change and make-up should also be changed to make us look our best.  I was fairly satisfied with what I'd been using......a special blend from a make-up tech in New Port Richey that I'd been using for quite a few years.  And when I moved to Cedar Key, I'd simply email her with my order and she shipped it to me.  However, when I was in Dallas with my girlfriend, Alice, she introduced me to Bare Escentuals.  She then gave me a demonstration of how to apply this make-up that she'd been using for awhile.  She'd also been introduced to it from a girlfriend.

I had to admit, it did look great.  The color blended on her face very well, making it look quite natural, yet giving her a envious glow.  She explained the foundation was made with a creamy, weightless, formula of light-reflecting minerals.  It's also free of preservatives, talc, oil, chemicals, etc. which can cause irritations.

I was also impressed that the make-up is delivered to your door and comes with a DVD explaining the application, etc.  So after I was back home for a few weeks, I decided to check out their website at this link.

And I decided to order the starter kit.  I've had it about 2 weeks now, and I have to say......I'm sold.  It truly is very easy to apply......You put a bit into the cover of the container, swirl a small amount on your brush, tap away the excess and buff bareMinerals onto your skin in a circular motion.  Buff, buff, buff until you're satisfied with the coverage.  Less is more when applying bareMinerals.

I use the foundation, warmth (which is similar to a blush) and then the Mineral Veil, which is the finishing touch.  It all keeps your complexion fresh and flawless all day.  Then I apply my eye make-up (which they do have, but I haven't purchased from them yet) and I'm good to go.

I have to say, I'm very impressed.....Since I have olive skin, I went with the "tan" shade and it blends in perfectly.  But what I like best is the nice glow it gives to my skin.  It just looks better.

So if you're looking for a change in your make-up, visit the website at the link above.  You might also be enthused with this make-up that I'm finding out more and more women are using.  Hey, getting "older" doesn't mean getting "drab"......everyone wants a nice, healthy, natural glow!

See you here next time............

I normally just wear some powder foundation and a little lip gloss. I don't know if you knew I got my eyeliner and lips done with permanent makeup (tattoo!). It needs to be redone (faded). I'd like some different, lighter foundation so I'll check out the site.

Sounds interesting. I wear my make up very light with the least possible as anything heavy not only irritates my skin but looks terrible. For the last few years, when I use foundation, it is Clinique's almost make-up which supposedly is for young girls just starting to use foundation but seems to be good on old lady skin also as it's quite light, barely visible coverage but does what you said above and has an spf 15 which for every day is enough. I simply cannot stand the feel of foundation on my skin-- at all, have never been able to use regular powder even way back when.

When I put anything on my skin, I don't want to feel it's there. When I began to let my hair go gray, I decided even the light lipstick I generally wore wasn't working as well with tan skin and gray hair; so now I use a clear gloss that supposedly makes your lips look fuller (not sure if it does, but I like the more natural, back to the earth look with my graying hair). The one thing I almost always wear is some eyeliner and that's about it except for real dress-up days and then some light mascara. However, I always check out new things and will look at the link. I am always open to learning better ways to do things.

here everyone always asks me to do their make-up
my mother paid for me to sit through a class on make-up (which was for models) because I went really crazy with it
so I went through my bright blue purple wild colors phase

less is more in every thing when doing make up

thanks for sharing Hi from michelle

I use shishiedo. i figured the japanese always have great skin so i'd use what they developed LOL. little pricey but a little goes a longgg way and lasts 3-4 months of everyday use. I tried clinique HYPOALLERGENIC foundation and ended up with hives all over my face, so bad I had to go to my doctor. I had never had that before, always using the cheap stuff LOL. Macy's was mortified when i returned it and showed them what it did to me.I did try the mineral makeup at Sephoras, was very nice but i will stick to shiseido for now.
thanks for the makeup tip of the day MOM LOL.

Terri, I was asked to do a piece on skin care. I'm getting a free facial today and supposed to interview the woman giving it. I have no idea what to ask. I wear eye makeup only and haven't a clue about the rest. Oh lipstick too, but skin care? I'll keep you posted.
