Shame On Teddy

I'm referring to Teddy Kennedy.  Any of you that know me well knows I've always liked the Kennedy's.  Yeah, I'm originally from the Boston area, but that isn't why I like them.  I think for an elite family they've done a lot of good in the state of Massachusetts.  But now.....I'm really disappointed in Ted.

It seems there's been a project in the works to erect 130 windmills in Nantucket Sound.  It would provide power needed by Cape Cod and nearby islands.  84% of state residents favor it.  Except Teddy......

It would be built about six miles from the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis.  The problem isn't that he'd actually see the turbines from his home.  Nope......it would be the fact the windmills would be built in one of the family's favorite sailing and yachting areas.

Well....excuuuuuze ME!  So it's more important to have that yachting venue than to have an alternative source of energy?  Apparently so!

And I say, shame on you, Teddy.  I think you've voiced it loud and clear.....it's a matter of "Do as I SAY....not as I DO."

But then......I guess he fits right in with the rest of the "me" generation.  It's all about them.

Just my opinion.  See you here next time........

Like they always say - the rich are different. I think our government should mandate alternate sources of energy wherever possible. Solar panels, gray water, wind power, etc. Waiting until the fossil fuel stores are totaly depleted to seek alternate energy soruces is just stupid. But then it all boils down to greed - the root of 90% of the world's problems - those who own big oil don't want to lose their profits. To hell with the generations that follow, they want what they want right now.

The windmills are ugly. We have a number of them near the Tehachapi Mountains. However, they also are an important source of alternate power and God knows, we are in need of an improved source for energy.

Mr. Ted doesn't want his pristine view cluttered. Tough!

I was going to say, what did he do know? Thinking more of an unseemly escapade. A wind farm is coming to our area soon I heard on the news tonight. Did you know that the Kennedy's grandparents had a house in HULL? It was Rose's parents. Her dad was the mayor, Fitzgerald.

Yes, right in the middle of the ME generation. We have this over here too!

Folks, we have to remember (this is important!) we were all born equal, it's just some are more equal than others. Have you been to a beachfront along the Atlantic in the northeast? So much oceanside property is off limits to the public you can barely lay out a beach-sized towel to keep the sand off your bum without touching the person next to you. Imagine my shock discovering this after growing up in Florida and enjoying a long coastline of public beaches. Those to the manor born always feel their rights come first. Bring on the windmills! They make beautiful photo ops! Remind the Kennedys that.

Yes, the windmills are unsightly. I saw a whole slew of the ugly things when I was in California a year ago. HOWEVER...that's precisely why they are opting to build them so far away. My oldest sister lives in Hyannis and she says that almost everyone wants them. (by the way, her neighbor just cut down almost all the trees on his property and erected a huge building that cuts off her view of the ocean...did she have a say-so in this matter? Unlike Teddy, she is just a peon)

It's typical of how many of them are. You little people drive less, while I take my huge jet to my meetings. Hypocrisy is rampant in humans. The original windmills were hard on birds but I think they have resolved that with slightly slower rotations. They are not sightly. I agree with that; so who would want them in our view? Not many of us and that's where the hypocrisy always starts-- with us. He's no exception

I saw on the news a while ago that they're controversial. But we need energy.

We had some windmill interest here but it was so controversial it never even got to the ballot. With the Blue Ridge Mountains one of the only tourist resources we have it was too risky to put the mills along the Parkway view. But I haven't seen the story on the ones in Mass. I am all for them if they don't ruin the view of one of the area's only tourist draws.

Well, this is deeply disappointing, isn't it? If this is the case....! OY....!
One expects more from Ted Kennedy than that, especially gicen that more than one of his brothers family is very concious of the energy crises, etc....Do you know this to be the actual facts, Terri? I am only ask becauseit truly seems out of character...BUT, Then....Like I said....OY!
