In Memory of Bella

bella.jpg

I never met Bella, the cat.  She belonged to my girlfriend, Maureen.  But I'd heard enough about her that I "felt" like I knew her.

So when I received an email from Maureen yesterday with the above photo and words telling me that Bella went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday morning, I felt sad.

The reason I'm doing a blog entry on Bella is because Bella lived to be 23 years old!  Yes......23.  Isn't that amazing?  I think that in itself deserves some recognition.

Needless to say, she was much loved by Maureen and her husband, Bob.  And their home will be very empty without her.  But what a grand life she had.  And befitting for such a special cat, Bella passed on peacefully in Maureen's arms.

I have no doubt that Bella is now at the Rainbow Bridge, romping and playing just like she did in her kitten days.  So here's to you, Bella...........a very special grande dame.

See you here next time..............

God bless her soul! How nice it was that Maureen was able to have her so long!

I'm sorry to hear that about Bella - I can't believe she lived to such a ripe age. :)

I wonder what the cat life record is. Bella surely had a long life and was loved.

I enjoyed your book chapter, Terri. I'm in the Asheville library right now, visiting my son. And believe it or not, I'm here by way of Canada, which means Michele.

such a sweet cat. Yes she is fortunate to have her company for so long. But still it is very sad to have to say goodbye or until we meet again at the rainbow bridge. I hope Maureen takes comfort in remembering all the happy times and knowing that her dear friend will still be with her in spirit. >^..^<

No matter how old a pet is when she dies, it's always too early.

I hope Bella meets Blossom and Bridget there at the Rainbow Bridge. Blossom was my beautiful Calico with blue eyes, and my Bridget was black as midnight with green eyes. They were only 16 when they passed last year. The three of them can play together unencumbered by age-related problems now. Bless Maureen for 23 years of love and care; now she has 23 years of wonderful memories.

When I hear about pets that live such long lives, I can't help but think that they do so to set an example for the rest of us. If, by looking at them, we are inspired to live every day of our lives in a contented, loving manner, then their existence on this planet can be viewed as nothing less than a blessing.

I watch our puppy bring nothing but happiness to our kids' lives, and I hope that the lessons of this little furball are being learned by our kids. Fingers crossed.

Thank you, Bella, for teaching such lessons to people you never met. May you have endless days of happiness ahead of you.

Such a sweet face,Terri...Bella certainly had a wonderful long life. "Baby" my very first kitty lived to be 20 and 1/2 and she too died in my arms....There was something so wonderful about her going in this natural way...
A lovely tribute to a beloved cat, my dear Terri.
