Thursday Tidbits

A few blogers have mentioned this past week that their well is dry....it's been difficult to find topics for their blog.  I'm not completely on "empty" but I'm hovering at only about a quarter full.  So today I just have random chit chat to occupy your reading pleasure.

Okay......you can laugh.  But you have to admit these slippers/shoes ARE a bit different and yeah, I'm the owner of them.  I was looking for something I could wear in the house and the yard but something that would also be comfortable.....you know, the kind you can just slip in and out of.  My friend, Doreen, who owns the Faraway Inn on the island, is the Avon Rep here and these are from Avon.  No, I doubt I'll win any fashion plate contests wearing them, but, oh......they're so comfortable and practical.  Yeah, I admit the color is a bit much.  Hey, she had them in red too and all I could think of was Dorothy's shoes, so I passed on the red.  Now I have visions of the Purple People Eater......but I guess there ARE times in a woman's life where vanity goes right out the window.  Consider this one of those times for me.

This is what I'm now reading.  Have to admit I'm not sure if I'll finish Didion's book.  It's a bit of a "downer" and while I understand we all deal differently with grief, I also admit to not having a lot of tolerance (the older I get) for people who refuse to adjust and look for other means to accept things and get on with THEIR life.  So I'm now reading this and enjoying it immensely.  It's my first time reading this author and I must thank Maria.  Actually, she'd recommended another one by this author to me and I got sidetracked on Amazon and ended up ordering this one.  I'm pretty sure I'll be reading other books by this author.  I love her writing style, the characters are great and it seems there's a good story ahead.

And this is my latest knitting project.  It will be a sweater for my granddaughter, Emma.  Isn't that just the coolest yarn?  I just love it!  It's called Sirdar Snuggly and the color is Bon Bon.  I love all the little different colored nubbies in the yarn.  It's a great pattern too, from the book "Top Down for Toddlers" by Deb and Lynda Gemmell.  It's no-sew knitting.....you begin at the neck and work down, all in one piece.  I'm really enjoying working on this.

Remember that Outdoor Market I'd mentioned that would be starting on the island?  Well, it starts this Saturday from 8:00 till noon.  I'm really hoping to be able to get down there, but I'll be attending the Cedar Key graduation at 9:00, so we'll see if I make it or not this week.  It's going to be held every Saturday and I'm looking forward to it.

Well, folks, that'll cover it from my island for today.  It's a gorgeous day here and I intend to get out there and partake of it.  I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes by Helen Keller ~  "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."  Make sure you soar today.....and I'll see you tomorrow.

"Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhasuting" but when you slip on a pair of shoes like those anything could happen!

I'm among those who have been running low on blog ideas. Or else maybe it's just that spring is beckoning, taking me away from my Word program.

Very sorry to hear about the student who died. Though I come from a very large class of seniors, none close to be has passed away . . . yet.
