Pals
Holly and I had a friend over yesterday for lunch and a nice visit. My friend, Lucie from Montreal, is here on the island for the winter. Along with her gorgeous 10 year old Golden Retriever, Thalos.
We had a very nice afternoon and of course, Thalos was invited also, to Holly's delight. I snapped this photo when it was time for them to leave. Holly is a doggie dog.....she adores other dogs and is very dog friendly. As a puppy we used to bring her to a Doggie Day Care....nope, I'm not kidding. Good Lord, that place was better than the Ritz! We brought her there a few times as it's a good way to get puppies socialized. Drop her off in the morning and pick her up late afternoon. Needless to say, she had a ball and was worn out for a week when she got home. They had all kinds of activities for them outside, complete with a small wading pool. And the best part was she learned to interact with other dogs. Cedar Key is extremely doggie friendly and seldom do we go for a walk when she doesn't bump into one of her friends. The other morning we met Sadie, a 3 month old Jack Russell Terrier and Holly was enchanted......but I'm afraid we'll pass on a puppy for her right now. So Holly loves doggie playdates.
We had other visitors this past Sat. evening for dinner. My friend J. and her dog Beans. Holly was in Doggie Heaven playing with her girlfriend. And see the pretty St. Patty's Day scarf Holly is wearing? It was a gift from Beans.
As I'd mentioned in a previous blog, I'm leaving tomorrow for my writers conference in Augusta, Georgia. I've been attending the Sandhills Writers' Conference for a few years now and last year, my co-author and I were asked to present a workshop for this year. So I'm looking forward to it. We're doing one together on collaborative writing and then I'll be doing one on Place & Setting in writing.
So I'm off to see the beautiful Dogwood and Tulips in bloom, as they always are this time of year in Augusta. And I'll be back on Sunday.....just in time to celebrate my birthday.
Everyone take care and I'll see you here next Monday.

Glad Holly is OK, shes such a goodddd dog, everyone! I am afraid of dogs, as I mearly had my arm torn off by our dog 18 yrs ago .I stayed with my parents last Oct.I would see Holly's pic and think OH SHE LOOKS SCARY... But she is sooo sweet! So calm, smart and loving! Maybe when you bring her to Boston in June, she can teach Jack some good lessons!
Hope we get a report of this writer's conference.
Dave...Lucie told me it's a Greek name and something to do with the Greek Isles when she visited there.
And yes....a full report of my conference will follow. And now, I'm shutting this puppy down....have to leave early in the morning for Augusta.
Everyone take care and I'll see you next Monday.
