Random Thoughts

I'm back from my writers conference in Orlando.  It was both informative and possibly very beneficial.  I had an interview with a top NY agent and I'm pleased to say she showed an interest in my current manuscript, Seeking Sydney.  After I pitched my work to her, she requested that I send the first 100 pages along with my publishing credits.  So I'll be very busy today and tomorrow polishing up the manuscript and sending it off.  While it's another tiny step up that publishing ladder, those of you in the industry know it's simply that.....another tiny step.  So it's a little early to break out that bottle of celebratory champagne.  Of course I'll keep you posted here on my blog.

I'm about half way through reading the Red House by Sarah Messer.  It's very well written and is holding my interest.  I'm impressed with how she took non-fiction and has woven it like a novel.  Another book that was written this way, which I loved, was The Two Mrs. Grenville's by Dominic Dunn.

While I was at the conference I purchased The Secret Life of Bees.  Another one of those books that EVERYbody was reading and Terri never got around to it.  It's gotten rave reviews and awards, so no doubt that I'll enjoy it.

Moving from books to TV.....I was disappointed to see last night that Desperate Housewives got bumped off the air for the Dance finale, which I haven't been watching.  So guess us fans have to wait another week to see what latest catastrophe is occurring on Wisteria Lane.

Since I have a busy day ahead working on my manuscript, I need to stop rambling here and get to work.  Everybody take care, enjoy your Monday and I'll see you tomorrow.........

Keep us posted on those tiny little steps, eh. Just from what little I've culled from Writer's Digest, there seems to be a lot of hucksters who will read your manuscript for a price. It's nice to find an agent who will do it for free (and maybe set you on your way to literary stardom)
