Tomorrow, Ray, Holly, Duncan and I will be heading up to Virginia. You might recall that I'd booked a cottage there months ago....and here we are in October already.
We're leaving tomorrow and I booked a hotel off I-95 near 26 that's pet friendly for tomorrow evening. It's an 11 1/2 hour drive from here and we're not in a rush, so may as well spread it out. So we arrive in the Floyd area on Monday for 5 days......we head back home next Sat. and I booked the same hotel for the drive back and we'll be back home on Sunday afternoon.
I've driven on the Blue Ridge Parkway years ago, but we never stopped to check out towns, etc. so this will be a whole new place for us to explore. And I'm really looking forward to it. I'm hoping the foliage will be camera-worthy. I know it's going to be cooler.....I checked out the weather and mid-week, I read Floyd would be around 64 during the day for a high and 39 at night for a low. Okay, guys.........lets not get carried away up there. But it'll be a welcome respite from our hot and humid Florida summer.
Our next door neighbors here in Cedar Key live in Floyd during the summer months. They own tree farms up there, so Pat emailed me and since they're still there, they want to get together, which we're going to do on Wednesday.
And then on Thursday, I'm heading over to the Cafe del Sol in Floyd to meet up with some other bloggers. I'm very excited about finally getting to meet Colleen from Looseleaf Notes in person. So I think it'll be a lot of fun and yes.....I'll have my camera with me, so I can share things with you.
Unfortunately, the cottage is not equipped for a modem hook-up nor does it have wireless. So I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit out of commission while I'm there. I do plan on going downtown in Floyd where I can pick up a signal a few times and hopefully, I'll be sending you a blog from there along with some photos. But you can depend that I'll blog about the area with photos when I get home. So I'm planning to take my knitting with me and a couple of books that I'd like to get read in the time I'm up there. The cottage has a great porch with a view to die for......so who knows, maybe I'll just spend a lot of time sitting and "loitering." Searching for some more creativity for my writing, notebook in hand.
I have already written a blog entry for tomorrow and one for Monday, while I'm away. So come back to visit and hopefully I'll be here at least once live from the Floyd area. Do enjoy your weekend and I'll see you in the mountains..........

Maybe see you at the Cafe on Thursday. Have a good trip up, the leaves today are spectacular, and winds not so bad that lots will blow away, perhaps, before you get to see it all. -- Fred of Fragments
