Cougar Ridge Cottage

It was really nice to return to my creature comforts yesterday and sleep in my own bed last night.  I also must admit I enjoyed having my coffee this morning from my Bunn coffee maker.  The one at the cottage was the tiniest little one I've seen....only made 2 cups of coffee at a time.  Holly and Duncan enjoyed their walks to the cemetery this morning and also renewed doggie friendships along the way.  I also bumped into friends and got caught up on island stuff.  And here's some photos of the cottage in Willis.  As you can see, the road in was a typical, remote, country road.

Above is the gorgeous view from the porch and below, some photos inside the cottage.  It was a 2 bedroom....one of the bedrooms upstairs in a loft.  Then the large family room/kitchen area, complete with wood burning stove.

The entire cottage was done in knotty pine....ceilings, walls and floors and it did lend a cozy feel to it.  Unfortunately, just a wee bit too isolated for me.  The porch faced east and one morning I did get some spectacular shots of the sun rise, right from the porch as I sipped my coffee....here's a couple of those......

I think you'll agree, they have some pretty awesome sunrises in the mountains and I really enjoyed that a lot.  That's it for today, folks.  Join me back here tomorrow with more stories and photos of our trip.  Enjoy your Sunday...........

That is too remote for me and I live here! Of course I get scared at my own home when Martin is out of town. I was used to living in more "civilization".
But it is a beautiful little cottage (adore the knotty pine) and your photos of the scenery are just breath taking. While I am sure Holly and Duncan enjoyed the vacation I bet they are very happy to be back to their old routine.

What a beautiful spot to watch the trees turn color. I think I would enjoy the isolation for a few days, but then I would need more activity.

Being home is nice though and I understand your love for a large coffee maker.

Hi Michele sent me to see your lovely getaway. Nice views for sure. It looks like a cozy feel. Like the quilt.

There are so many parts of our country that are outstandingly beautiful and that is definitely one of them. I love being alone but have to watch when it becomes isolation...that's when I can spend 2 or 3 days reading and then realize the time has gone.
I look forward to your other vacation photos.

Well, at least I don't feel like so much of a whimp now...lol
Even you guys who live up there thought my cottage location was a bit too far out.

Colleen...that WAS a plus! The cottage was VERY light but the best part was ALL the windows, so no matter where you looked, you saw the trees, foliage and the sky.
Waking up in the morning was spectacular...the sky was RIGHT there, outside the high windows in the bedroom and being in the middle of nowhere, there was no need to draw the blinds at night.

The cottage looks quite user friendly...and very sunny, too, in that photo...But I don't think I would want to be that isolated at all! (Not at my age!!!lol)..
Those Sunrise pictures are really beautiful...!
Love seeing your doggies, too!

I look forward to your pictures from your blog meeting at the Cafe...!

The cottage looks a lot like ours in Georgia, all that knotty pine! I had to laugh at your description a few posts back on not having internet access because I know exactly how that feels!!!
When we rented our cabin this past summer, I thought it had phone and internet and was startled to realized I'd made a mistake in booking.
The only phone service was back up at the office, (quite a hike!) and we had to drive into town to find a cell phone signal.
Not having access to phone or internet wasn't too bad for 4 days since we kept busy. But... any longer, I would have gone stir crazy!
Great to hear you all had a real good time, Must have been nice to get out of Florida at this time of the year!

Does look a bit remote. Being close to Halloween, I'm reminded of the movie Evil Dead, where a group of young adults rent a cottage way out in the woods.

It is beautiful, though, inside and out. Staying there, I think you can imagine how our forefathers had it, living on the frontier.
