Greetings From Floyd

Hello from Floyd!  I'm sitting here at the Cafe del Sol next to Colleen and Deana.....I also met Fred First and David and Gretchen.

Have my coffee beside me and Deana is teaching Colleen how to do video on her laptop.

We arrived in the area on Monday....unfortunately our cottage is NOT a 15 min. drive to Floyd....with those hairpin turn roads out of the hills of Willis, it's more like a 45 min. drive.  But we come into Floyd every day.....no cell phone signal here in Floyd though.  Had to drive to Radford yesterday to get a signal.  And the only place I get a wireless signal is here at the Cafe del Sol or the library.

I have loads to tell you about my impressions of Floyd and the area and loads of photos to share, which I'll do next week after I get home.  Weather has been autumn perfect....sunny and in the high 50's today.  The foliage is just incredible.....spectacular would cover it.  Lots of "ooohs" and "aaahs" from me.  Holly and Duncan have been excellent and they love their daily walks in the woods.  After we leave here we're going to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Colleen and Deana are kidding me as I'm concentrating here and typing away.  I just wanted to touch base with all of you.  We leave this area Sat. morning, will stay in St. George SC Sat. night and be back in civilization Cedar Key on Sunday.  It'll be nice to have my computer and cell phone signal back.  So wishing all of you a great weekend from here in the mountains......See you soon,

The colors were just starting when we were on the Blue Ridge Parkway last week. And I CERTAINLY remember those hairpin turns coming off the parkway. We had a motorcyclist right behind us the whole time. He finally decided we weren't moving fast enough and passed on a double yellow line. Brave lad, if a bit stupid.

Hi Terri and Colleen: My son in law told me that the trees are turning very fast this year in NY state where I will be on the 21st. I know I will see some wonderful scenery on the ride up though.
Terri, did Colleen tell you that I may see her a week from tomorrow. I wish you were going to be there then. I think it's wonderful that we are all making contact. Have a wonderful time.

Sister blogger here...literally.
Colleen is my sister. I just finished reading over at her place about the bloggers meeting in Floyd. I wish I was there but the 12 hour drive would have been a little much.

I experienced a similar problem. When I bought my iPhone, I first checked with “Got Reception?” (Gotreception.com) It’s a great resource for finding out where reception problems are most likely to occur BEFORE you lock yourself with a specific carrier.
