Ahoy Mate
Well, THEE call came.....no, no, not the one from the NY agent or top publisher.....the one from the owner of the boat. Apparently, she took the boat out for a test spin (does one take a boat for a spin?) and it worked perfectly. We're supposed to take it out this evening for us to try it out before we make the actual purchase. However, Mother Nature has intervened once again. It's pouring rain and the forecast says 70% chance the rest of the day and this evening. So we're on hold till the weather improves.
We're headed to the big "C" later this morning. Our bi-weekly shopping to Chiefland to Super Wal-Mart. You know, that store really is great.....one-stop shopping, which sure makes it convenient. I always get a kick out of the baskets at the check-out.......underware and personal items mixed in with your leg of lamb. I have to say this bi-weekly shopping suits me just fine. Friends didn't lie when they said once I settled in here I'd have to be pried off this island......I really do hate facing the traffic and crowds on the mainland. Mind you, Chiefland isn't a booming metropolis but compared to the island it's congested. And Gainesville....even more traffic. However, Gainesville does have my beloved Starbucks. So that's always worth a trip. We do now have another coffee place on the island though. My friend Rose opened up the Cactus Rose and has all the designer coffee's that Starbucks has and you sure don't get the personal attention and gossip at Starbucks like I get at Rose's shop.
One of our other shops, Haven Isle, has been waiting for a delivery of windchimes (with quality of sound like music) since I moved here in February. I checked in last week and still no windchimes but the owners said they'd call when the shipment got in. (Remember I said nothing moves quickly on this island?) So after 3 months, they're here and I got the call yesterday. I even get first choice on which ones I'd like because I'm a "local".....yup, this place reminds me of Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Another nice feature of small town living.
I'm happy to say Miss Dora and her quirky group took over yesterday and I managed to get up to page 80 something, so my mystery is moving right along.
Well, the big city beckons so time for me to move on outta here. Make it a good day and I'll see you tomorrow........
