Rainy Tuesday
Well, I'm here, so guess I did something right setting this up yesterday. About the little envelope at the top of your reading page....I'm told by some people it's there and to quote another reader "no such animal." Support host tells me that people need to sign up and register in order to access this feature to subscribe and be notified via email when I update my blog. When all else fails and you want to stay updated with my blog, just type in www.islandwriter.squarespace.com into your browser.
Looks like Mother Nature is doing my watering for me today. It's dark, dreary and rainy here on the island. Since we haven't had rain in awhile, I'm not complaining. A good soaking will have all my flowers blooming away.
I'd mentioned on my other blog that I was reading Bet Your Bottom Dollar by Karin Gillespie. Well, I finished it last night and can highly recommend it. As I'd said I had the pleasure of meeting Karin 2 years ago when we both presented on a panel at Augusta State. I have to say her debut novel is highly entertaining and right up there with Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes. I hated to leave the characters on the final page, however, the second book in the Bottom Girl series is due out in August, so be watching for it. And if you haven't gotten the first book yet, it's now out in paperback and to quote Karin, "It's available through Amazon at the shockingly low price of $10." I've added some author links on my front page, however, they're not showing up for me.....so until I get those kinks worked out, visit Karin's website at www.karingillespie.com.
Writing update.........I was so involved with this blog yesterday, I'm afraid to say Miss Dora didn't progress any further. I'm planning to spend a few hours today working on my mystery. I've introduced a new character, Miss Dora's daughter.....Blaire left her two-timing husband and has moved in with her organized and routine-oriented mom. Not sure how Blaire will develop, but I have a feeling she'll let me know mighty soon. Characters have a way of doing that. Also, found out yesterday that Bill (my co-author on Immoral Symphony) and I have been asked to present a workshop at the Florida Writers Asso. conference in October. We'll be doing a dual workshop titled "Two Pens Can Be Better Than One." And any of you writers out there that live in Florida, might want to consider attending the conference. It's being held in Tampa this year and the link for FWA is www.floridawriters.org.
Our contractor did drop by yesterday with the mason to look over the project for our screened lanai and my writers studio
Another step forward. So I'm hoping to hear the sound of tractors and equipment in my back yard very soon. Details to follow.
Well, folks, that's it from the island for today. Make it a good one and hope to see you back tomorrow.......
