Introducing Ralph & Foster

Ralph Nov.17.jpgYesterday was both an uplifting day and an upsetting day.  Today I'll blog on the "uplifting".....tomorrow we'll deal with the "upsetting."

Let me introduce Ralph in the photo above.

Foster Nov.17.jpgAnd here's his brother, Foster.  Yup, we have 2 new kitties in our home.  Our vet had a flyer that one of their patients had posted saying she had kittens available.  Angus will be in our thoughts and hearts forever.....but sometimes the best form of healing is to go forward.  And we sure have a lot of love to give to kittens that needed a home.

The owner is one of the sweetest people I've met and even by her voice on the phone, I could tell she was a huge animal lover.  She has the mama cat and is keeping one of the kittens.  So we met her late yesterday afternoon and took the kitties home.  They were born September 2, so they'll be 11 weeks old tomorrow.

We weren't really taking both initially.....and she didn't force both on us.  But how on earth can you separate brothers that are very attached to each other and worse yet......which one do you choose?  Both....of course.

I was prepared for total chaos in our house.....but I have to say it's obvious they came from a very loving and caring home.  They're extremely well behaved, very affectionate and I'm terribly attached to them both already and I sure do love them.

Both Holly and Marcel have accepted them very well.....but poor Holly is going to wear herself out!  She's constantly hovering over them, chasing them, kissing them and making a total fool of herself. She's a true "mama."  They adore Holly.....and sit there while she laps them and they rub up against her.  Marcel has chosen to be aloof about all of it......these kitty shenanigans are way beneath him.  So basically he's ignored them, but does allow them to come close enough to sniff him.

Both kittens slept snuggled up together.....snuggled up against me all night.  So life in our home sure has changed....it's filled with laughter and enjoyment....kittens have a way of doing this.  So I have a new Category added to my blog......Kitty Tales.....and I'll keep you posted on their progress and their growth with photos.

The origin of their names.....Ray has always wanted a "Ralph" cat.  And "I" have always chosen the names....Felix, Calais, Angus and Marcel.  He now has his Ralph cat.  Foster is significant because the kittens were born in Suwannee, Florida.  You guessed it.....Stephen Foster wrote "Suwannee River."

Make it a good Thursday and I'll see you tomorrow.........
